Bremen HS Students Play 'Financial Jeopardy'
BHS hosted Mr. Noah Doppelt and Ms. Velia Cruz from Everfi and TCF Bank for an interactive and exciting day of Financial Jeopardy

On Friday, March 2, Bremen High School was excited to host Mr. Noah Doppelt and Ms. Velia Cruz from Everfi and TCF Bank for an interactive and exciting day of Financial Jeopardy! “It was a lot of fun teaming up with the other Personal Finance class that runs at the same time as ours. I also liked hearing a lot of the same information we’ve talked about in class from professionals in the banking industry. They helped clarify a lot of the same information that we go over in class,” said Freshmen Personal Finance student Stephanie Orozco. Students chose five other students to team up with and were playing Jeopardy against the other teams. Categories included topics they cover in the D228 Personal Finance class this semester: Savings, investing, banking, consumer fraud, credit cards, financing higher education and renting/buying a home.Bremen High School is striving to help their students leave high school prepared to enter the real world. All freshmen students in District 228 take Personal Finance. “We want our students to be better off than we were leaving high school. Our goal is for them to fully understand what a student loan is and be prepared to pay it off after college. We also want to make sure they can balance their checking account and know how to apply for scholarships. We go over interest rates, credit cards, buying a car, and comparing salaries of different occupations. The curriculum for this class is phenomenal and fully loaded for the real world. I always like having professionals come in and talk to the students; it is a nice change of pace to have them hear the importance of personal finance from other professionals,” said Career & Technology teacher Mrs. Guzak.
