Midlothian, IL — Bremen High School junior Sophia Lara has been named the 2027 Distinguished Young Woman of Posen and selected as a state finalist in the Distinguished Young Women of Illinois program.

Sophia recently competed in the program’s preliminary competition, where she demonstrated excellence in scholastics, interview, talent, fitness, and self-expression. Her talent performance in step dancing highlighted both her creativity and confidence, helping her stand out among an exceptionally competitive field of candidates from across Illinois.

“The competition to become a state finalist for Distinguished Young Women of Illinois for the Class of 2027 was the toughest in our nearly 70-year history, with over 400 applications received statewide,” said Chairwoman Tiana Pequette. “Sophia’s poise and confidence shone through in every category of our program.”
