Charges Upgraded To Felony In Accident That Killed Motorcyclist

A Harvey man driving on a suspended license faces a felony charge in a crash that killed a 62-year-old motorcyclist in Oak Forest, cops say.

OAK FOREST, IL — Charges were upgraded to a felony on July 22 for a Harvey man accused of driving on a suspended license who was involved in an accident resulting in the death of a motorcyclist, prosecutors said. An arrest warrant was issued for Christopher Caston, 28, on felony charge of aggravated driving on a suspended license.

On June 1, Caston was driving a Mercedes Benz southbound on Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest, when police said he made an illegal left turn onto 167th Street. Officers said that Caston hit a motorcycle, gravely injuring a 62-year-old Oak Forest man. Caston provided false information to police due to another arrest warrant on an unrelated case in January, when he was charged with felony aggravated fleeing and eluding in Harvey, according to court records.

The motorcyclist, Kurt D. Kruger, died of his injuries on June 7. Kruger was described as a "safe, experienced and cautious rider his entire life," according to his obituary. "Please watch for motorcycles, two wheels, one life."
