Cute and Classy Wigs: Providing an Intimate Atmosphere During a Personal Experience

Oak Forest wig shop owner hopes to help her customers have a private and comfortable experience during what could be a vulnerable moment.

Owner of , Susan Dominick, hopes that her customers feel comfortable behind her shop's doors. Private appointments held behind closed doors are intended to enable clients to feel secure during a moment where insecurities may surface.

"This is a serious business," said Dominick "A lot of my customers are cancer patients who have lost their hair as a side effect of chemotherapy."

Dominick hopes to make the transition to wearing wigs as seamless as possible.

"It is a lot like going from not wearing glasses to wearing glasses—it may look and feel strange at first but you must acclimate to it," she said.

Full wigs with built-in lightweight caps are made with state of the art, all-synthetic hair that is soft and realistic, are available as well as halo-style wigs that can be worn with hats for those who do not wish to wear a full wig. There are many salon-inspired colors to choose from, with highlights and tipping as well as rooted colors. Short, straight, curly and long—Dominick offers them all. If someone's requested piece isn't available, Dominick can place a special order, with delivery within three to five days.

All products necessary for the upkeep of the wigs bought at Cute and Classy Wigs can be bought at the shop. Dominick recommends washing the wig at least three times a year, and offers the service at her shop. All wigs come with a stand and shampoo and there is no charge for consultation. Service on all wigs sold at the shop is offered for a mere $14.

The wigs offered at the shop range in price from $99 to $300 and come in a wide range of sizes and styles.

"Many women have female pattern baldness and are pleased to find that we have wigs that mimic their hairstyle, enabling them to feel comfortable enough to continue living their lives and doing everyday things like going out to dinner," said Dominick "Whether the hair loss is permanent or temporary, remember that wigs can make you look good and feel good about yourself again."

Some insurance companies will cover the cost of a wig if a doctor writes a prescription for a hair prosthesis, helping some women afford the wigs they may otherwise not be able to afford.

Dominick welcomes all questions and concerns and although she does accept walk-ins, she recommends making an appointment to assure her customers the time required to give them adequate attention they deserve.
