On February 10th, District 228 hosted its 4th Annual Fine Arts Symposium. Although the symposium was virtual this year, 17 A.P. Art and Design students participated and continued to find value through the program.

Students displayed examples of their artwork in a slide presentation and were able to gain valuable feedback and constructive criticism. The event was hosted by District 228’s four A.P. Art and Design teachers: Edgar Gonzalez, Jamilah Adebesin-Mason, Adam Pries, and Dan Chambers.

The students were very appreciative and thankful to have participated in this process. Many expressed their gratitude and are hopeful that this symposium will positively impact their portfolio of work that will be submitted nationally through the College Board in May.

“This event is so important for our Senior A.P. art students because it provides them a forum to discuss their work, connect with their peers across the district, and get immediate feedback from those viewing their work for the first time," says Jennifer Reid, Fine and Performing Arts Supervisor for District 228. "The Symposium also allows our students to belong to a bigger community of young artists within our own district. I am so pleased that our department teachers organized this for their students, even if it was a virtual event.”
