"Don’t Mention My Name" at South Suburban College

Performances will take place in the Kindig Performing Arts Center on SSC’s Main Campus Sept. 16-17 and Sept. 23-24 at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m.

Don't Mention My Name is a fast paced comedy with all the elements–romance, intrigue and even murder.

The play takes place in a quiet New England bed and breakfast where a man (John Condic, of Oak Forest) arrives who is unfortunately suffering from amnesia.

Chaos ensues when he checks the answering machine and hears a threatening message, then everyone else who arrives calls him by a different name.

Jane, the real estate lady (Catherine Hundt, of Thornton) calls him by one name and Verla the housekeeper (Sandy Zurawicz, of Lansing) by another. A business executive and his secretary (Leffié Martin Jr., of Riverdale, and Vera Friloux, of Dolton) appear with a confirmed reservation and call him by another name. The executive’s wife (Tekella Rounds, of Chicago Heights) surprises them all and calls the hero by a different name, and a nightclub singer (Kim Nevins, of Chicago) enters with her hearty boy friend (Eric Pradelski, of South Holland) and recognizes him by yet another name.

As the amnesiac and the real estate lady band together to solve the mystery, it develops that people are not who they seem and even though each works for a different government agency, they all have the identical purpose.

The plot becomes more and more hilarious until all questions are answered, including who the hero is and what the crime is with a surprising twist ending. This combination of intriguing laughter, romance, and mystery provides a delightful evening.

The production is directed by Pat Nevins, of Homewood. Lighting design is by Lydia Bellamy-Palma and costume design is by Joanna Tassin, both of Park Forest. The set is designed by Chicago resident Anne Begora, with stage management by Angela Martin, of Midlothian. Adding their talents to the show are Daniel Galbraith and Jennifer Zurawicz, both of Lansing, Amy Johnson, of Chicago, Brittany Welles, of Dolton and Laura Tiemens, of South Holland.
