  • Kimberly Colbert StMarie: My prayers are with his family and friends.
  • Wendy Master: Our prayers go out to the family. Danny was a brave boy, God bless Annette for being a strong mother and for all who prayed and helped him through everything.
  • Casey Reynolds Cloud: Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. What an inspiration they are to all of us.
  • Courtney O'Leary: Praying so deeply for the Host family. Casey said it best: the whole family's testament to love is a huge inspiration indeed. God bless....
  • Scott Newton: RIP little buddy, you will be missed. But we were blessed to spend this time with you.
  • Patti Mullen McGoldrick: All of Oak Forest's hearts go out to the family. I think the Village Hall, Fire Dept and schools should honor him by putting their flags at half mast.

Monday evening, Alderman Laura Clemons issued an e-mail warning to residents that a pack of coyotes has popped up in the area. We wanted to know if any of our fans had spotted them.

  • Charles Smith: We had a coyote in our driveway near 153rd and Laramie the other day. We've had foxes before, and hawks, but this is the first coyote that I know of.
  • Roberta Alterson-Massey: I saw one this morning on my way to work by the curve between 151st & 147th crossing the road!
  • Patti Mullen McGoldrick: I've seen coyotes at Yankee Woods not too far from the bike trail. I've also seen foxes around 151st & Laramie. The more we take their natural habitat the more we'll see them in our neighborhoods! Something to think about as we consider developing open lands around here!
  • Julie Jackowiak: Heard them last night around midnight howling, I live near 149th!!!

Rumors of Chris Medina's elmination from American Idol began flying early in the week, but one of our fans was hoping for the best....

  • Linda Guerrero Hancock: Hope it's just that . . . RUMORS!! Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not true.

Sadly, Medina was cut from the show on Wednesday, but Blarney Stone Pub owner Tom Spellman reminded residents that he'll continue hosting a fundraiser throughout the rest of the season.

  • Blarney Stone Pub: No matter what happens with Chris and American Idol Blarney stone will continue Juliana Ramos Fundraiser every Wednesday until the end of American Idol season. So come out, have some fun and support a great cause.

The spring-like weather of two weeks ago was followed up by a return to the wintery doldrums this week. Patch is pretty done with winter, and our fans are, too. They're already looking forward to several things this spring:

  • Chris Proctor: Baseball!!!
  • Patti Mullen McGoldrick: Jogging Yankee Woods trail.
  • Alisa Edith Flynn: Longer day light hours and opening the windows in house for fresh air!

This week's   title went to the 20 boys in Boy Scout Troop 341. One proud parent couldn't help but comment.

  • Paula Ramirez Beahan: Troop 341 does awesome work with some great leaders. My son, Andy, is also a member of this troop.

This week's Moms Talk Q&A narrowed in . We asked if readers felt Spencer's should be able to display the items, as long as they were in line with state statutes.

  • Jaime Gall- Sawicki: I think the sexually explicit (sex toys) items available should be contained in an area for 18 and older. But if that happens it would most likely only encourage a wider variety of those items. And let's face it, in comparson to an adult store, the merchandise is mild. What is the store's policy on allowing minors to purchase these things? I remembering being a teen and going to Spencer's, the sex stuff embarased me, but where else could I buy a hat with fake poo on it? Today's teens are much different than that of my generation. The parents that may have a problem with Spencer's allow their kids online with no restrictions, where they learn all kinds of misconceptions about sex. I think it's a parent's responsiblity to make sure teens are properly educated about sex, that way any items of a sexual nature is understood. In today's technological age, Spencer's mercandise is not the most concerning thing.

Prior to Wednesday's American Idol show, a few of you had some guesses on which Beatles song Chris would take on.

  • Krista Kaleta Attreau: All You Need Is Love.... Or And I Love Her. I will bet something to do with LOVE.
  • Katie Gall-Vanwhite: Can't Buy Me Love?
  • Melanie Sanchez: Penny Lane or Strawberry Fields?
  • Rob Kaskovich: Hey Jude. Because I heard it earlier today.

All the fans' guesses were off the mark: Medina went with A Hard Days Night.

  • Krista Kaleta Attreau: I wish we were wrong about something other than the song.

But the fans wouldn't be down for long—Medina released a single on Thursday, called What Are Words. The song was tailor-made for Medina by Rodney Jerkins, and was recorded just days ago. He'll also appear on .

  • Dameuris Feliz: Love it! Do you?!
  • Michael Horan: He's a talented young man, that's quite apparent.
