Father In Amber Alert Charged With Mom's Murder

Lynn Washington faces first degree murder and parental abduction charges in the death of the mother of his two young children.

MARKHAM, IL - The father of two missing children that sparked an Amber Alert last week has been charged with the murder of the children's mother. Markham police charged Lynn Washington, 40 with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Lakisha Roby, 27 as well as parental abduction in connection to the Amber Alert, according to multiple media reports.

A judge ordered Washington held on no bond over the weekend. Court records obtained by ABC-7 indicate he was ordered to have no contact with the children, 2-year-old Jordyn and 3-year-old Lynn, stemming from a domestic battery charge he had against him from last October.

Roby was found dead at the BP gas station at 167th and Pulaski in Markham last Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune reports. Later that day, the two children were reported missing from their home in Markham and an Amber Alert went out to the entire Chicagoland region that night.

“This is a sad and unfortunate set of circumstances, which leave a lot of lives harmed along with (the) kids who really don’t know what happened,” Markham Police Chief Mack Sanders told the Tribune.
