Do you know a veteran in need this Thanksgiving?

The 7th Annual Veteran’s Food Drive will be held from November 20 through 21. This year organizers are looking to provide upwards of 1,000 local veterans and their families the food for a Thanksgiving meal. They are seeking veterans in need of Thanksgiving assistance who reside in the greater Chicagoland area. They currently have 250 spots available.

The Veteran’s Food drive began in 2009 as a dream to help provide a Thanksgiving meal to roughly 15 veterans who would not have otherwise had one. In the inaugural year, organizers were able to provide 109 veterans and their families the means for a Thanksgiving meal they would not have had otherwise. Now, seven years later, the need has grown tremendously as our desire to help those who have served us has grown as well. The group collaborates with businesses, clubs, schools and churches to help collect non-perishable food items that are then used to help assemble and provide approximately 7-8 food β€œbaskets” per veteran and their families over a two day period.
