Tinley Park Bicyclist Dies Day After Being Struck By Car, Crash Remains Under Investigation: Police
Cheyenne Shuey, 18, died after being struck at 159th and Ridgeland Avenue.
OAK FOREST, IL — A bicyclist struck by a car in Oak Forest last week died from her injuries the next day, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed.
The medical examiner on Thursday identified the bicyclist as Cheyenne Shuey, 18, of Tinley Park. Previously, officials had not released her identity pending notification of next of kin.
Oak Forest Police Deputy Chief Ryan Burnett on Friday morning confirmed Shuey as the bicyclist involved in the crash.

Around 6:38 p.m. on May 14, Oak Forest police and fire personnel responded to a traffic crash involving a bicyclist—now identified as Shuey—at the intersection of 159th Street and Ridgeland Avenue.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that Shuey was exiting the bike path and entering the roadway when she was struck by a westbound motor vehicle on 159th Street. The vehicle was driven by a 76-year-old man from Tinley Park.

Shuey was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said.
She was pronounced dead on May 15 at 5:52 p.m., according to medical examiner records.
Police said the crash remains under investigation by the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
