Gunfire Exchanged During Attempted Carjacking: Midlothian PD
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at 147th and Waverly Avenue.
MIDLOTHIAN, IL — Midlothian police on Wednesday afternoon were called for a report of shots fired, discovered to have occurred during an attempted carjacking.
Police were called to 147th Street and Waverly Avenue just before 2 p.m. Responding officers learned that a suspect had attempted to carjack a victim, and the offender and victim exchanged gunfire, Midlothian Police Chief Daniel Delaney shared on social media. Police are investigating the incident.
Nearby Springfield School was placed on a temporary lockdown until officers confirmed the area was safe. The lockdown was lifted within an hour.
