'Houdini,' Beloved Oak Forest Dog Found Tied To Bridge, On Road To Recovery
A tumor was discovered on Houdini during a vet visit after he was rescued.

OAK FOREST, IL - A dog known as "Houdini" has garnered quite a following in Oak Forest over the last couple weeks. After being tied to a bridge near 152nd and Laramie on the Sunday before Memorial Day, he was able to escape and was spotted in other nearby towns, according to a YouCaring page that seeks to raise $3,500 to help him get surgery for his medical needs.
The page indicates that on June 3, Houdini was again spotted at the same bridge in which he was tied up a few days before. But this time, a group of concerned residents and an Oak Forest police officer captured him and brought him to animal control.
A number of medical issues, including a tumor, were discovered upon a subsequent visit to the veterinarian, according to the fundraising page.

"He had his ears cleaned out and it was discovered he has a double ear infection. The tumor is much more involved than we imagined."
"Houdini must see a specialized surgeon who will be able to do the very delicate surgery needed. He will most likely need skin grafts due to the size of the tumor."
