OAK FOREST, IL β€” A Harvey man with a revoked firearm identification card is accused of falsifying information on an application to purchase a gun. Douglas Davis, 26, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of providing false information to purchase a gun. Douglas also has a pending case from 2019 for possession of a stolen motor vehicle

The prosecutor said Davis went to the Eagle Sports Range, 5900 W 159th St, Oak Forest, where he tried to purchase a Springfield Armory pistol on Aug. 24, 2019. Davis provided his driver's license and revoked FOID card for identification, according to the complaint. When Davis filled out the lengthy ATF application required for federally licensed firearm dealers, the prosecutor said Davis checked "no" to the question asking if he was currently under indictment for a felony.

He paid for the gun using his debit card and waited the required 72 hours. When Davis went back three days later to pick up the gun, he learned that the purchase had been denied, the prosecutor said. Davis was given a refund. The prosecutor said Davis's FOID card had been revoked several days after his March 2019 arrest on the stolen vehicle charge.

"He submitted his own driver's license and FOID card," the assistant public defender said. "He didn't try to hide his identity."

Davis's $10,000 I-bond was revoked, and he is being held without bail. The judge set bail at $30,000 on the new case. Davis was also ordered to surrender all firearms and ammunition to Harvey police. He's due back in court March 24 in Bridgeview.
