'Traffic Altercation' Leads to Monday Morning Shooting on Tri-State

One person was injured Monday morning when shots were fired at a car on northbound I-294 near the 159th Street exit in Markham.

The victim and driver of a Chevy Impala was involved a “traffic altercation” with a person in a mini-van, according to a press release from Illinois State Police. The driver of the mini-van then shot at the Impala, hitting the driver, the release said. A child in the backseat was not injured.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with “non-life-threatening conditions”, and is in stable condition.

A description of the shooter was not available.
