Oak Forest Bengals Soccer Advance in Regionals

Next Game Saturday, October 20 at 10:00am at Oak Forest High School

OAK FOREST, Ill. — The Oak Forest Bengals are a team on the rise. That showed on the field last night.

The Oak Forest High School boys varsity soccer team beat visiting Rich South, 8-0, at Oak Forest High School. Rich South were eliminated from the state tournament following the defeat while Oak Forest moves on to face St. Rita on Saturday, 20 October at 10:00 am at Oak Forest High School in game 2 of the regionals.

Oak Forest (15-8-2) entered the game with a five game win streak and confidence in making a run at the first state soccer championship in school history. The Bengals' arsenal of weapons (8 goals from 5 different scorers and 6 different players with assists) were on full display Tuesday night.

Jonathan Landa opened the scoring from an Alex Rodriguez pass eight minutes into the game and followed up with an unassisted goal six minutes later. Alex Rodriguez scored the next two goals. One at the 24:10 mark from a Landa pass and another from Dorian Perez at 19:42.

Oak Forest proceeded to go on a run that produced three additional goals in three minutes from Omar Plancarte (Edouard Rosales assist) at 16:01, Jake Philips (Declan Collery assist) at 14:21 and an unassisted goal for a hat trick by Jonathan Landa at 13:37.

Oak Forest's defense and midfield was solid from the first half all the way through the second half. Louis Rosales capped the scoring with 7:12 left in the first half from a Jake Philips pass.

Oak Forest will be looking to exact revenge upon St. Rita who beat the Bengals last month 3-2 . The Bengals have come a long way since that game and are peaking at the right time.
