OAK FOREST, IL – It's a scary statistic. Approximately 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer before their 20th birthday. Globally, there are more than 300,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year, according to the American Childhood Cancer Organization.

Oak Forest officials are hoping to put smiles on the faces of children and teens fighting cancer with the help of the community.

The community is encouraged to bring new unwrapped toys (no stuffed animals), $5 gift cards or gifts for teens to the city hall lobby and place it in the red barrel by Friday, Dec. 20, 2019.
