Oak Forest Man Awaiting Trial on 2009 Murder Charge Arrested at Joliet Casino

Derek Grib was 16 when he allegedly killed another teen at a party.

An Oak Forest man free on bond while he awaits the start of his murder trial in Cook County was arrested Friday night at a Joliet casino.

Derek Grib, 22, was charged with criminal trespass at Harrah’s about 11 p.m.

Grib had been kicked out of the casino earlier in the evening and was told he would be arrested if he came back, police said. Grib reportedly returned anyway and was spotted by a security manager.

Grib allegedly scuffled with security guards who still managed to take him into custody. He was handcuffed and held until the law arrived.

Grib was charged with stabbing 18-year-old Felix Jimenez in July 2009. Jimenez died soon after. Grib was 16 at the time of the killing.
