Police Seek Identity Of 3 Men At Scene of Manny’s Bar Shooting

ROBBINS, IL – Cook County Sheriff’s Police are seeking to identify three individuals in security video images who were present at Manny’s Blue Room Lounge in Robbins, where a black armed security guard was fatally shot by a white Midlothian police officer on Nov. 11.

Jemel Roberson, 26, was working security when an armed suspect entered the Robbins nightclub at 2911 S. Claire just after 4 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The suspect is said to have opened fire, hitting several patrons inside the bar. Robbins, Midlothian and other suburban police departments responded.

Roberson was holding the suspect at gunpoint in the parking lot of the bar when he was fatally shot by a Midlothian police officer. Witnesses told police that Roberson was attempting to subdue the suspect, when the Midlothian cop ordered him to drop his gun and get on the ground before fatally shooting the guard.

Witnesses further stated that Roberson was wearing a hat with the word “security” emblazoned across it, as were four other armed security guards working at Manny’s Blue Room Lounge that morning. The police-involved shooting is being investigated by Illinois State Police. Several witnesses have disputed the state police’s findings in a preliminary investigation. Roberson’s family has since filed a $1 million federal lawsuit.

Cook County Sheriff’s police want to talk to the individuals captured on the bar’s security cameras as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
