Series Of Suspicious Fires Reported In Midlothian

Firefighters in Midlothian responded to several apparent arson incidents overnight.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — Firefighters worked through the night late Thursday and early Friday to put out a total of four fires in south suburban Midlothian. The fires occurred between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. with the worst being the one set near 146th and Sawyer Avenue, according to a report from CBS-Chicago.

In that fire, a garage was completely engulfed and the flames spread quickly to a home next door that also sustained heavy damage, CBS reported. Another fire was reported just a block away at 146th and Spaulding.

A dispatch worker at the Midlothian Police Department said there were no calls made to Kedzie Avenue, where an unnamed source indicated one of the fires was set. The Midlothian Fire Department could not be reached immediately.
