Teen Accidentally Shoots Man In Leg Playing With Gun: Cops

Midolothian police are interviewing a 17-year-old male after he allegedly shot a 21-year-old man Thursday evening playing with a gun.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL -- Police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday evening in Midlothian. A 17-year-old male is being interviewed by detectives and a 21-year-old man is being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. Criminal charges are pending.

Midlothian officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim around 6:30 p.m. in the 14800 block of South Keystone Avenue. The 21-year-old male was treated by Midlothian Fire Department paramedics for a gunshot wound to leg. The man was taken to the hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives learned that the teen accidentally shot the man while playing with a gun inside the home, police said. The teen is now at the Midlothian police station for further investigation.
