19-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Struck By Car Crossing Cicero Avenue

Oak Lawn police are trying to locate a dark blue SUV driven by male that may also be involved. Investigation continues.

A 19-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed Wednesday afternoon while crossing Cicero Avenue just north of 110th Street, Oak Lawn police said.

Oak Lawn police traffic crash investigators remained on the scene throughout the afternoon reconstructing the crash.

According to police, at approximately 1:33 p.m., the female pedestrian was struck by a 2005 Cadillac, driven by a 53-year-old woman. The Cadillac was traveling north on Cicero Avenue when it struck the pedestrian approximately ten feet north of the 110th Street crosswalk.

Witnesses told police they believe the young woman was crossing Cicero Avenue in an easterly direction.

A witness to the accident told Patch that the tire of the Cadillac had to be removed in order to free the injured pedestrian.

Oak Lawn paramedics transported the 19-year-old woman to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she died a short time later. The northbound lanes of Cicero Avenue were closed to traffic for approximately three hours while the accident scene was investigated.

No traffic citations have been issued. Investigators are also trying to locate and determine if a dark blue possibly a Ford Explorer, driven by an approximately 50-year-old male with an olive complexion, may have been involved.

Police did not identify the 19-year-old woman. The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information concerning the traffic crash is asked to contact the Oak Lawn Police traffic unit at 708-499-7789.
