OAK LAWN, IL—As a freshman, Maksym Kolodziejczyk was fighting for a spot on the Oak Lawn Community High School junior varsity boys cross-country team. By the time spring rolled around, he had worked his way into varsity distance races for the track team.
Now he is poised for the varsity cross country season. It's a great example of what hard work can achieve.
"Instead of settling, Maksym continued to put in the work all summer," OLCHS head coach Marty Chappetto said. "He understands that greatness doesn't happen overnight; it comes from showing up, trusting the process, and getting better every day.
"This year, he's ready to take the next step. Maksym is exactly the type of athlete who makes coaching rewarding because you can see the progression happening in real time."
