Athlete of the Week: Spartans' Bradshaw is a Volleyball Up-and-Comer
Becky Bradshaw, only a sophomore, already has emerged as one of Oak Lawn volleyball's biggest offensive weapons.
Becky Bradshaw is only a sophomore, but Oak Lawn coach Dennis McNamara thinks she plays like a senior.
Bradshaw is Oak Lawn’s starting outside hitter and one of the Spartans’ biggest offensive weapons. She had six kills, including five in the first game, in Oak Lawn’s 27-25, 25-10 loss to defending Class 2A state champion Chicago Christian.
The performance not only turned heads, but earned Bradshaw the Patch Athlete of the Week nod for Oak Lawn. Setter Christina Egan often looked for Bradshaw when the Spartans needed a big point.

“She’s only a sophomore, so she’s going to be a player in the next couple years here,” McNamara said. “We’re going to refine some things in her passing. As far as a hitter, she works on her shots every day.
“She’s not just a cross-court player, she can hit all the shots, and for a sophomore, it’s impressive.”
