Burbank Man Dies In Accidental Fall: Police

Burbank police issue statement regarding an investigation into an accidental death due to rampant speculation and rumors in the community.

BURBANK, IL -- A man found deceased in his garage early Tuesday morning died as result of an accident. Burbank police said it appeared as if the man fell trying to enter through a window of his home hours earlier and injured himself. Police issued a written statement due to rampant speculation and rumors in the community.

The Burbank police and fire departments responded to a call in the 5400 block of 84th Street around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, when they found a man in his fifties in a lifeless state. The man was seated in a recliner chair in his garage with obvious head injuries, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Burbank police, along with the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Crime Scene Unit and an investigator from the Cook County Medical Examiner opened an investigation. According to police, it appeared as if the man, who lived at the address where he was found, had been trying to climb through a bedroom window and fell. The man suffered a severe head injury. There were no signs of a struggle or foul play inside the house, garage or anywhere else on the property, police said. Alcohol may also have been a contributing factor.

The medical examiner has ruled the man’s death an accident. As a matter of routine procedure, police are continuing their investigation. No charges are pending and the incident is isolated. Patch is not releasing the man’s name.
