Burger Joint, Gas Station And Shoe Store: What's Going To Get Robbed Next In Oak Lawn?

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn police are investigating two separate robberies that happened Wednesday evening, in which thieves got away with cash and a pair of boots. The incidents mark the second and third robberies that occurred this week, police said in a news release.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a Mobil gas station at 103rd Street and Pulaski Road. Police said an African-American male entered the gas station around 7:39 p.m. while an accomplice waited outside acting as a lookout.

The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash. Both men fled the area. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Surveillance video showed the second man waiting outside the business. Both were described of average height and weight, between 5-feet 5-inches and 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighing 150 to 175 pounds.

The man with the gun was in his late twenties to early thirties. He was described as wearing a blue hoodie and tattered, partially bleached jeans.

His pal was wearing a dark hoodie, blue jeans and tan shoes or boots. His age is unknown.

Minutes later, at 7:47 p.m., Oak Lawn police responded to a second robbery at the Payless Shoe store in the Oak Lawn Promenade shopping center at 6356 W. 95th St.

According to police, a white male, possibly of Middle Eastern or Hispanic descent, accompanied by a black female, entered the store and pretended to shop. Both approached the counter, and the man demanded cash from the register after threatening the clerk. Both fled the area, and no one was injured in the incident.

The male is in his early twenties, with short hair and beard, 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray hoodie and black gloves.

His female accomplice is also in her early twenties, between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 5-inches tall, with a skinny build and shoulder-length, curly hair. She was wearing a black hoodie, black leggings and black combat boots.

The two also reportedly took a pair of size 6, brown, knee-high boots valued at $60.

Oak Lawn police are also investigating an armed robbery that happened Monday at Meatheads restaurant, in which an older African-American man wearing a do-rag held up the store at gunpoint.
