Celebrating Independence: Oak Lawn's Festive Parade

A Patriotic Community Comes Together to Honor July 4th

American flags adorned the streets as families dressed in red, white, and blue lined the sidewalks of Oak Lawn for the annual Independence Day Parade. The festivities commenced at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, starting from 95th Street and 51st Avenue and proceeding westbound to 55th Court.

The Oak Lawn Police and Fire departments, Oak Lawn Raiders, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Marine Corp, Oak Lawn Arts Commission, Oak Lawn Library, Oak Lawn Park District, Chicago Stock Yards Band, Oak Lawn Community High School Band, local organizations, dance troops, places of worship, elected officials, Cruzin Coolers, the Jesse White Tumblers, Medinah Shriners Genies, Southpaw and Tommy Hawk were just a few of the parading entities making their way down 95th street as part of their annual tradition to celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

As floats passed by, cheers erupted from the sidelines, where children eagerly collected candy and other treats thrown by parade participants.
