Chicago Man Charged In New Year's Eve Supermarket Burglary

Prosecutor said man entered Food 4 Less in Burbank after hours and took body wash and tried to steal a cash register.

BURBANK, IL -- A Chicago man was caught heisting body wash and a cash register from a Burbank supermarket on New Year’s Eve, prosecutors said. Lanel Lomack, 54, is charged with burglary. Lomack has a pending retail theft charge.

Just before midnight on Dec. 31, Lomack entered the Food 4 Less at 77th Street and Cicero Avenue in Burbank through an open door after hours, the prosecutor said. Store surveillance video captured Lomack going to aisle 13, where he helped himself to body wash. He tried swiping a cash register but was confronted by a store employee, the prosecutor said. Lomack returned to the store on Jan. 3 where he was recognized and arrested.

Bail was set at $30,000. Lomack is due back in court Jan. 22 in Bridgeview.
