Chicago Ridge Accepting Applications for Police Officers

If you aspire to a career in law enforcement, the Chicago Ridge Police Department is taking applications for police officers through Aug. 3.

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL -- The Village of Chicago Ridge has opened the application process for police officers. From now until Aug. 3, interested candidates can pick up and drop off applications at the Village Clerk’s office at 10455 S. Ridgeland Ave.

Applications will be available for pickup and drop-off between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. and noon, Saturday. Completed applications must be returned no later than 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. There is a non-refundable $25 processing fee that must be paid at the time of obtaining the application.

Salary and Benefits: Starting salary $47,754; after two years $69,755; after 3 years $74,473. Benefits include uniform allowance, hospitalization, dental, optical, pension, vacation, personal and sick days.

Qualifications: U.S. citizen, ages 21-34 years old. Must possess a valid driver’s license, and the health, mental and physical agilities necessary to perform the duties of police officer, per the qualifications set out in the Rules and Regulations of the Fire and Police Commission of the Village of Chicago Ridge.

Requirements: An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice is required. Applicants must pass written, oral, psychological examination and polygraph test The written exam will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Currently employed, full-time Illinois State Certified Police Officers for at least the last twelve months are encouraged to test under State Statute (65 ILCS 5/0-2.1-8-5/10-2.1-9).

All appointed police officers, within one year of appointment, shall make his/her place of residence within the Village of Chicago Ridge.
