Children's Museum in Oak Lawn Gives Federal Employee Discount

The museum is giving a discount to federal employee families until February 1st unless the government shutdown ends before that date.

The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn will be offering $3 admission to federal employees and their families until Friday, February 1st unless the government shutdown ends prior to that date.

Federal employees must show their federal ID at the admission desk and the federal employee, one other adult and their children will receive $3 per person admission. The discounted admission price is in effect during weekdays only, Tuesday through Friday.

Doing things like this isn’t new to the museum, a few years ago when CPS teachers went on strike, the museum reached out to CPS families looking for positive, enriching activities to do with their children during the strike.

“We decided to try to do something for the federal employees affected by the shutdown,” said Adam Woodworth, the museum’s Executive Director. “We already have an initiative in place for low-income families and thought that we would extend that to Federal employees since many of them are going without a paycheck.”
