No Reported Cases of Coronavirus In CHSD 218

Please be assured that CHSD 218 is monitoring the situation closely and is committed to the health and safety of our students and staff.

March 2, 2020

Dear CHSD 218 Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

There has been a great deal of news lately regarding the recent Coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak. Please be assured that CHSD 218 is monitoring the situation closely and is committed to the health and safety of our students and staff. As we have done with other previous widespread health issues, CHSD 218 will continue to be in regular contact with local, state, and federal health departments and look to those departments for guidance.

There are no reported cases of Coronavirus among the staff or students of CHSD 218. We will continue to follow recommendations established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). These recommendations include frequent washing of hands, covering coughs and sneezes, cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces, and having students and staff stay home when they are sick. At this time, the IDPH does not recommend cancelling classes or mass gatherings.

We encourage both staff and students to stay home if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms. We also ask that parents please promptly pick up any student being sent home due to illness.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We assure you that CHSD 218 schools will continue to monitor and follow state and federal recommendations regarding COVID-19 and provide any updates to our students, staff, and community when necessary.
