Incumbent Bob Stokas is warding off a strong challenger, Tricia O’Sullivan. Stokas is fiscally conservative and claims to have helped spearhead an effort to obtain a property relief tax grant of nearly $6 million, reducing the CHSD 218 portion of residents fall property tax bill.

Stokas won the endorsements of the IEA Local 218 (D218 Teacher's Union) and IEA-NEI Local 318 (D218 Maintenance and Custodial Staff), Worth Township Democratic Committeewoman Patricia Joan Murphy and most elected municipal officials in Oak Lawn and Chicago Ridge. Stokas says he will work to keep patronage and politics have no place in our schools.

Tricia O’Sullivan is the wife of Worth Township Supervisor John O’Sullivan, a clout-heavy south suburban Democrat. O’Sullivan is a life-long Oak Lawn resident and teacher in Alsip School District 126. If elected, she says she will expand trade and vocational opportunities for D218 students, push for greater accountability in how tax dollars are being spent and will push for more resources in the classroom.
