Early Voting Starts Monday, Oct. 24, in Suburban Cook County

Information about early voting sites, grace period voting and times for the upcoming general election. Early voting runs Oct. 24-Nov. 7.

COOK COUNTY. IL -- Early voting for the upcoming general election starts Monday, Oct. 24 and continues through Nov. 7 in suburban Cook County. Voters are advised to bring a government-issued ID, such as driver’s license, state, work/school or military ID or a U.S. passport if they plan to vote early.

Turnout is expected to be huge for the upcoming historic presidential election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Illinois voters will be casting votes for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, state and county seats, judges as well as local referendums. Early voters may be asked to present a government-issued ID if there are questions about your registration, address, signature or if there are two voters in the same household with similar names.

All early voting sites in suburban Cook and suburban courthouses, as well as the Cook County Clerk’s office in downtown Chicago, will be offering grace period registration and voting through Nov. 7. Grace period registrants are also required to cast their ballot immediately after registering to vote.

To register during the grace period, voters need to bring two pieces of ID to register. At least one piece of ID should show the voter’s current address. Registrants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old by the general election (Nov. 8), and a resident of their precinct as least 30 days prior to Election Day, which is Nov. 8.

Voters may cast ballots at any of the suburban Cook early voting sites or at the Cook County Clerk’s downtown Chicago office at 69 W. Washington, 5th Floor, regardless of where they live, as long as they reiden in Cook County. In addition, early voting will be available at suburban Cook County Courthouses in Bridgeview, Markham, Maywood, Rolling Meadows and Skokie.

Weekday and weekends hours will be available at early voting sites through Nov. 7. For a complete list of early voting sites, visit the Cook County Clerk’s website. Voters can also find their polling place and voter information on the clerk's website by searching for their address.
