Baby Goose (3-18 months with adult)

The Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Avenue, will present Baby Goose on Tuesdays, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 from 10-10:20 a.m.Baby Goose is a music-based program for parents and their babies. This 20-minute program focuses on the pleasure of using rhymes, songs, finger-plays and stories together. We will be moving and grooving, so dress appropriately. Kindergarten Here I Come! (Ages 4-5)

Help your child get ready for kindergarten! Children will listen to stories, sing songs and engage in learning activities on Fridays, Oct. 3, 24 and 31 from 9:30-10 a.m. at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Opera Lecture: Capriccio

The Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Health Screenings at the Library

The Oak Lawn Community Partnership will hold free health screenings at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Avenue, onWednesday, Oct. 8 from 10-11 a.m. in our lower level meeting room. Blood pressure screenings will be performed by personnel from the Oak Lawn Fire Department. In addition, “Ask the Pharmacist” and Heart Health Awareness will be available.

New Book Discussion Groups at the Oak Lawn Public Library

The Library is launching a new book discussion program! There will be six new groups, each with a different theme, each with a different meeting time and place, and each with a different schedule. The variety ensures that there will be at least one that will appeal to anyone who loves to talk about books. Pick up a copy of the Library’s booklet that contains titles and details for all of the book clubs. Books will be available behind the Reference Desk on the second floor. Come to one or come to all. We welcome everyone who wants to talk about books. Here’s the lineup of titles for September through November:

Request for Book Sale Donations

Donate your “gently used” books, magazines, CDs and videos to the Friends of the Oak Lawn Library Ongoing Book Sale at the Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave. Due to space limitations, the Friends will not accept Readers Digest Condensed Books, encyclopedias and older text books. The donation drop-off area is near the Library’s Cook Avenue entrance. Interested parties may fill out a short form at the Customer Services Desk to receive a tax letter by mail that acknowledges their donation.

The Friends Ongoing Book Sale provides an ever-changing variety of books, magazines and other forms of media at bargain prices. Hardcover books cost 50 cents each, paperbacks are 25 cents and magazines cost 10 cents each. Audio visual items are priced as indicated. Funds collected from the book sale support library programming and purchases that are beyond their regular budget.
