Fire Heavily Damages Mobile Home In Oak Lawn

No injuries were reported in a fire at the Airway Mobile Home Community, the third fire to be reported this year.

OAK LAWN, IL — For the second time in as many months, fire broke out in a mobile home park in Oak Lawn early Thursday evening.

The Oak Lawn Fire Department raced to Airway Mobile Home Community, 9001 S. Cicero Ave., just before 6:30 p.m. Fire crews worked quickly to put out a fire in an older mobile home off of Cicero.

Neighbors told Patch that the people who lived there were not home when the fire started. No injuries were reported.

Chief Zack Riddle, of the Oak Lawn Fire Department, said there were no injuries and the blaze was contained to the unit or origin. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The northbound lanes of traffic on Cicero were closed for about 90 minutes, but have since reopened.

This is the third fire reported at Airway this year. In March, firefighters put out a small fire in the mobile home that is used as an office.

A second fire happened Sept. 1, that completely gutted a mobile home and damaged four others, leaving the family who lived there homeless.
