Firefighters Battle Overnight Blaze In Single Family Home

Oak Lawn fire crews battled a fire in a single-family home. The residents were not home when the fire broke out, officials said.

OAK LAWN, IL — Firefighters from Oak Lawn and other nearby towns battled a blaze in a single family home late Tuesday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Around 11:55 p.m., Oak Lawn firefighters went to the scene of a fire in a single family home in the 9200 block of 55th Avenue, where they were greeted by flames shooting out of the second floor windows. Fire crews searched the second floor for possible occupants.

The fire was extinguished at 12:27 a.m. The resident were not home when the fire started.
Crews cleared the scene around 1:30 a.m. No firefighters were injured.
