Former Oak Lawn Athlete's High School Record Restored
The superintendent's decision to only include points scored at south suburban school gets Kathy (Krzak) Levin back on the wall.

Former Oak Lawn athlete Kathy Levin is once again the all-time girls basketball scoring leader at Oak Lawn Community High School.
The Southtown Star reported a decision by Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 Superintendent Michael Riordan this week rescinded an earlier decision to replace Levin’s name on the all-time scoring list with LaTondra Brooks.

Brooks did score more high school points than Levin (Kathy Krzak when she played at Oak Lawn), but many of those points were scored during Brooks’ freshman year, when she attended an out-of-state school near St. Louis.
Levin played at OLCHS in the 1990s. Brooks is now a player at Western Michigan University.

A campaign began about a year ago by Drew Levin, Kathy’s husband, to have his wife’s name restored.
An email from Riordan to Levin said the school has now “established clear administrative procedures” regarding how athletic records will be maintained, and they will “only reflect achievements earned at the varsity level of Oak Lawn Community High School.”
Levin’s record may last for less than a week, however, since another Oak Lawn star is expected to top her point total when the Spartans host Shepard on Thursday.
