'Fugitive From Justice' Nabbed for Speeding: Police
California man had active warrant for violating parole, police said.
OAK LAWN, IL — A man stopped for speeding turned out to have an active warrant out of California, reports said. Adrian Bauer, 39, is accused of violating his parole and is awaiting extradition.
Around 2:40 a.m. July 29, when an Oak Lawn police officer noticed a Dodge Journey going 58-mph in a 35-mph speed zone near 102nd Street and Cicero Avenue, reports said. The officer curbed the car a few blocks away at 94th Street. The driver, later identified as Bauer, told the officer he did not have valid driver’s license, and provided a fake name and birthdate, police said.
After searching police databases, the report said the officer was unable to find anyone by that particular name and birthdate. Police said Bauer continued to give a fake name. He was taken into custody for not having a valid driver’s license, according to the report.

As Bauer was being placed in the squad car, police said he gave his real name. He allegedly told officers that he gave a fake name because of an active warrant out of California. When the officer ran Bauer’s name, police said it turned out he was wanted for violating parole on a warrant issued in December 2019. The California Department of Corrections said it would extradite, the report said. Bauer is not being charged with any local violations.
