Funeral Procession Through Hometown Planned For Late Mayor Kevin Casey

HOMETOWN, IL — The funeral procession for Mayor Kevin Casey will make a final sentimental drive through the City of Hometown where he was born and lived his entire lifetime before the Mass for Christian Thursday morning at Our Lady at St. Germaine in Oak Lawn. Casey died unexpectedly last Friday.

The mayor’s body will be accompanied by the Hometown police and fire departments starting around 9:15 a.m. Thursday from McGann & Son Funeral Home, 10727 S. Pulaski Road, Chicago.

The procession will head west on 107th Street to Cicero Avenue, then north on Cicero Avenue to Southwest Highway, then north on Duffy Street. The procession will continue east on Corcoron through the residential area to the mayor’s residence and back to Duffy.

Heading south on Duffy/90th Place, the procession will proceed to Pulaski where it will turn south on Pulaski, to 97th Street where the procession will turn west 97th Street, ending at Our Lady at St. Germaine, 9711 S. Kolin Ave., Oak Lawn (97th and Kolin).

Floral tributes from south suburban mayors lined the walls at McGann during Casey’s visitation Wednesday evening. Rep. Mary Flowers and Alsip Mayor John Ryan stopped by to pay their respects. Hometown’s police and fire departments die a formal walk-through accompanied by bagpipers from the Emerald Society Bagpipes and Drums.
