Gap-Toothed Home Invader Apprehended in Oak Lawn Robberies: COPS

OAK LAWN, IL -- A gap tooth helped identify a man wanted in two Oak Lawn home invasions that occurred in September 2016. Residents were followed into garages and robbed at gunpoint of their valuables, police said.

Ivory Warren, 40, of Chicago, has been charged with multiple counts of home invasion with a deadly weapon in Oak Lawn and Chicago. He is currently being held on $400,000 bail at Cook County Jail.

Both crimes happened ten minutes apart on Sept. 13, 2016 in the middle of the afternoon. At 2:23 p.m. on that day, Oak Lawn police responded to a report of a home invasion in the 4100 block of West 93rd Street. While responding to that call, police received another report of a home invasion around 2:30 p.m. for the 9600 block of South Kildare Avenue.

According to a police news release, a man later identified as Warren, followed residents into their garages. Warren displayed black handgun. In the first incident a gold chain was taken and in the other Warren allegedly grabbed a diamond ring before fleeing in a dark red SUV.

Police said the description both residents provided of a man with missing front teeth linked Warren to the crimes. A composite sketch of the alleged offender was released to the public, including information about the missing teeth.

Working with Chicago police and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Warren was arrested and charged on April 11. Warren is also believed responsible for home invasions in Chicago.

Warren is due back in court May 8 in Bridgeview.
