Gimme 5: Oak Lawn's Magana Eyes Future as a Cardiologist
Spartan senior defender Lissette Magana plans on attending the University of Illinois where she will be a pre-med and microbiology major. But, for now, she puts her heart into stopping soccer opponents.
When asked of the proudest moment of her career, Oak Lawn senior defender Lissette Magana didn’t answer with a moment on the soccer field. Rather, she said it was making it onto the Top 15 list of academic achievers for her class last year.
Magana holds a bright future. She plans on attending the University of Illinois next year where she will be a pre-med and micro-biology major. Magana wants to be a doctor.
“I think it’s the idea of helping people,” Magana said of why she wants to be a doctor. “And actually being able to contribute back to society.”

Magana wants to be a cardiologist. “My family has a history of high blood pressure, so I think going into something I can give back to my family would be good.”
