Gimme 5: Richards' Sautkus Glad He Didn't Pass on Chance
Richards senior Ryan Sautkus wasn't sure about playing volleyball his freshman year. Now, he loves the game.
One look at Richards senior libero Ryan Sautkus his freshman year, and one wouldn’t have expected him to grow into being a varsity volleyball player. And a starter, at that.
Standing 5-4, Sautkus’ friends were playing volleyball, but he didn’t plan on joining them. Richards coach Troy Grevengoed, however, talked him into playing.
Sautkus has been growing his love for the game ever since, not to mention growing into his body. He sprouted to 5-8 his sophomore year, 6-0 his junior year and now as a senior stands at 6-2.

His decision to play volleyball has paid off as he has developed into a libero and leads the Bulldogs in digs and ranks second in aces.
Sautkus plans on attending Eastern Illinois University next year where he will study physical education with the hopes of teaching in high school and coaching volleyball, preferably at Richards. He plans on continuing his volleyball career as an intramural player.
