Hannum Elementary Hosts Fun-Filled Science and Art Night

Families enjoy spring-themed stations, including the creation of an art mural and STEM experiments.

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123's Hannum elementary school hosted its final family engagement night of the year on Thursday, March 23, 2023, a science and art night with a spring theme. Families enjoyed visiting seven different stations where they learned about blooming flowers and pollination while participating in various fun STEM experiments. At the art stations, students contributed to a mural inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's flower, and they also created colorful flower diagrams using paper plates and dot markers. The students' art pieces were impressive, and families enjoyed creating them together.

Principal of Hannum Elementary School, Mrs. McGovern, was thrilled with the turnout and engagement of families at the event.

"We are so proud of the creativity and hard work of our students and staff, and grateful for the support of our families. Seeing our school community come together to celebrate learning and have fun is always amazing!"

In addition to the art stations and science experiments, students could make spring-themed buttons to take home. The night was an overall success, and everyone left with a bit of spring in their step. Hannum Elementary is already looking forward to next year's family engagement nights, where they hope to continue encouraging learning and fun for all.
