Honoring Our Heroes: Oak Lawn Elks Will Pay Tribute to Veterans

On Thursday - June 15, 2023, a remarkable event will unfold in Oak Lawn, as the local Elks Lodge prepares to honor a group of veterans from Manteno Veterans Home, who have selflessly fought for our country's freedom. This heartfelt gathering will be a testament to the Oak Lawn Elks' commitment to their community and their dedication to showing gratitude to those who have served. With a rich history spanning 155 years, the Elks organization continues to embody their motto: "Elks Care Elks Share."

Approximately between 10:30am - 11:00am on that memorable day, a procession of veterans will be escorted to the Oak Lawn Elks Lodge #2254 by a motorcycle brigade, composed of Elks members who share a deep respect for their sacrifices. This display of solidarity and admiration will undoubtedly set the tone for a day filled with honor and gratitude.

As the veterans arrive, their path will be lined with fire trucks from Oak Lawn and Chicago Ridge, proudly hoisting an American flag aloft. This majestic sight will remind everyone present of the enduring spirit and resilience of our nation, serving as a powerful tribute to the veterans' unwavering dedication.

Once inside the Oak Lawn Elks Lodge, the guests of honor will be treated to a delicious luncheon. The Elks members, numbering around 29, will assist in making this event memorable and ensure that each veteran feels valued and appreciated.

In addition to the meal, the veterans will have the opportunity to engage in various games and activities specially organized for their enjoyment. This moment of shared fun and camaraderie will serve as a reminder that the bonds forged in service endure and that their sacrifices are recognized and honored. The Oak Lawn Elks have also prepared gifts for each veteran in attendance.
