Illinois 2026 Summer Festival Guide
From live music and food fests to craft beer and fireworks, there's no shortage of entertainment to be had this summer.
Summer is such a fun season–but if you don’t make the best use of it, it seems to be gone in a flash. Patch has rounded up summer events around Chicagoland, from live music and food fests to craft beer and fireworks. Most of these events happen outside, so pack some sunscreen and a hat.

Chicago
June 4 to June 7: Chicago’s Blues Fest, Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph St., Chicago. The world’s largest outdoor, free blues festival celebrates Chicago’s extraordinary music scene. More than 500,000 blues fans will gather to hear the genre’s most revered musicians, along with up-and-coming and local talent, including Willie Clayton, Li’l Ed and the Blues Imperials, Mississippi Marshall, Shakura S’Aida and Ruthie Foster to name a few.

June 5 to June 7: Ribfest Chicago, Lincoln Avenue between Irving Park Road and Berteau. Chicago’s most anticipated food festival features over 20 food vendors and live music all weekend. Suggested $10 donation.
June 12 to June 14: Andersonville Midsommafest, Foster Avenue and Clark Street. Mamma Mia! This annual celebration of Swedish tradition and the summer solstice takes place in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. Live entertainment all weekend across four stages, vendors and a diverse offering of foods. Family- and dog-friendly. Suggested $15 donation.

June 20 and June 21: Pride Fest in Boystown. Held the weekend before the Chicago Pride Parade, there will be live music on three stages, drag performances, the Proud Pet Parade, and over 150 food and merchandise vendors.
July 8 to July 12: Windy City Smokeout, United Center parking lot, 1901 W. Madison Ave., Chicago. Country music, barbecue, and craft beer — it’s hard to think of a better way to spend a summer weekend in Chicago. This year marks the first time the festival will include five days of live music, featuring 20+ country artists like Blake Shelton, Jordan David, Lainey Wilson, Hootie and the Blowfish and many more. July 8 to July 12: Taste of Chicago, Grant Park, 800 S. Michigan Ave. Featuring food, music and fireworks. Free admission.
July 18: Southside Summer Music Festival, Marist High School, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago. One of the most highly anticipated live music events on Chicago’s South Side offers a day of music in the football stadium. The 2026 lineup includes Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Eddie 9V and Back Country Boards. Get Southside Summer Music Fest tickets.
July 24 to July 25: Chicago Gospel Festival, July 24 to July 25, Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph St., Chicago. Delve into this Chicago-born musical genre featuring the biggest stars of Gospel music. Free and family-friendly, settle in for some powerful inspirational performances.
July 24 and July 25: Wicker Park Fest, July 24 to July 25, 1346 N Paulina St. (use this address for Uber and GPS). One of the city’s most anticipated street fests offers a stellar indie music lineup of 50+ emerging local and recognized artists performing original music. Over 200 participating businesses, installations, kid-friendly spaces, a pet fest, food vendors, and more fill the streets of this funky nabe. Suggested $10 donation.
July 30 to Aug. 2: Lollapalooza in Grant Park. Featuring Charli XCX, Tate McRae, Jennie, Smashing Pumpkins and more. Tickets range from general admission to Platinum.
Aug. 8: Bud Billiken Back to School Parade and Festival, 39th Street and MLK Drive, to Washington Park, Chicago. The Chicago Defender’s inspiring parade designed to get South Side children excited about the return to school, features an array of high school bands, drumlines, rope jumpers, dance troupes, floats, and more in a dazzling promenade. A festival follows in Washington Park.
Aug. 15 to Aug. 26: Chicago Air and Water Show, Aug. 15 through Aug. 16, Lake Michigan waterfront between Fullerton Avenue and Oak Street. The annual summer spectacle is the largest and oldest free-admission air and water exhibition in the United States. Watch the world’s best pilots perform astounding feats above the water. Free.
Aug. 27 to Aug. 30: Chicago House Music Festival and Conference, Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph St. Chicago House Music has revolutionized dance music globally. This free musical event includes the top DJs and emerging talent, youth workshops, dance parties and beyond. The festival weekend also includes an industry conference featuring engaging panels with house music icons and experts across the street at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St.
Sept. 3 to Sept. 6: Chicago Jazz Festival, Sept. 3 to Sept. 6, Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph St., Chicago. Jazz fans come from all over the world for four days of free, unforgettable live jazz performances, featuring established stars and up-and-comers.
Cook County
June 19-20: The Winnetka Music Festival in downtown Winnetka. Food vendors, live music featuring Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Mo Lowda and the Humble, the Psychedelics, and many more. Single-day tickets start at $75.
June 19-20: Taste of Des Plaines, Ellinwood Street (between the Des Plaines Metra Station and the Des Plaines Public Library). The two-day fest held over Father’s Day weekend features live entertainment on two stages, local restaurants serving their specialties, beer tents, and fun for the whole family.
June 28: City of Hickory Hills 44th Annual Street Fair on Roberts Road between 95th Street and 91st Street, Hickory Hills. Live entertainment, food trucks, car show, crafters, Bingo, karaoke and inflatable rides.
July 1-5: Frontier Days, Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner St., Arlington Heights. Boot up for five days of live music (Rod Ruffcurls and the Benchpress, Soul Asylum, Yachtley Crew, American English), a carnival with rides, food, drinks, a stampede, petting zoo and much more for the entire family. Free admission.
July 2-5: Morton Grove Days features four days of carnival entertainment, live music, food with a parade and fireworks on the Fourth at Harrer Park, 6140 Dempster St.
July 23-25:: Lincolnwood Fest at Proesel Park. It will feature live music, carnival rides, food, drink, car show, family activity tent and more. Find a full schedule online.
Aug. 1: Taco and Margarita Fest, at The Forge: Lemont Quarries, 227 Heritage Quarries Drive in Lemont. Variety of taco creations from food trucks, and margaritas, beer and a vendor village.
Aug. 22 -23: The seventh annual Evanston Art and Big Fork Festival will showcase artwork for sale from over 150 artists in a variety of media. Free entry. Kids art zone, face painting tent and more.
Aug. 28-30: The Backlot Bash offers three days of music and fun, including a carnival, Bingo, food, beer, Rotary pancake breakfast, a 5K run and kids color fun run, and more. On Oakton Street between Lincoln and Laramie Avenues. This year's headliners include Tributosaurus becomes Santana, Rodd Tuffcurls & The Benchpress and another act TBA.
Kane County
June 21: Svenskarnas Dag (Swedish Day), June 21, Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive, Geneva. Dance around the maypole at this traditional Scandinavian celebration of the summer solstice. Illinois’s oldest ethnic festival, Swedish Day at Good Templar Park offers Scandinavian and American cuisine, dancing, music, Icelandic ponies, kids crafts, Viking encampment, cottage tours, vendors and more. Friends of the Viking Ship will be hosting tours (separate admission) of the replica-Viking ship that sailed into the 1893 Columbia Exposition. Admission is $7 for visitors age 13 and up. Free for children 12 and under, active military (with ID) and anyone who shows up in traditional Swedish costume.
Swedish Days, June 24-28, downtown Geneva. Now in its 77th year, Geneva Days celebrates the heritage of the Swedish immigrants who settled in the area. A carnival, live music, a beer tent, many food vendors and a 5K race are all planned.
Will County
June 11-14: Old Canal Days in Lockport. Carnival, parade, beer garden, live entertainment, Bingo, food trucks and more.
June 25-28: Homer Community Festival at Heritage Park, 14240 W. 151st St. Carnival, parade, fireworks, food vendors and more. Free admission, free parking.
July 17-19: Plainfield Fest at the Village Green. Featuring carnival rides, live music, petting zoo, bags tournament. The carnival will be set up at the north end of Plainfield Central High School.
July 11-12: Frankfort Bluegrass Festival. Free admission, featuring live music in downtown Frankfort.
Aug 2: Barro Fest at Settlers' Park in Plainfield. Featuring live music, beer tent and food vendors. The event will run from 1-10 p.m. July 27 at Settlers' Park and the adjacent vacant property to the west.
Aug. 6–9: RomeoFest at Deer Crossing Park/Village Park. Four-day long celebration including music, food, a carnival, car show, fireworks, laser show and more. New this year is Romeoville's first color run.
July 31-Aug. 2: Shorewood Crossroads Fest at Cene's Four Season's Park, 25520 W. Seil Road. Featuring carnival, live music, craft show, bags tournament, car show and more.
Aug. 26–30: Will County Fair at the Will County Fairgrounds, 710 W South St. in Peotone. Featuring a demolition derby, tractor and truck pull, baby show, chili cookoff and more. Find the full schedule of events on the website. Free admission.
Kendall County
June 18–16: Oswego PrairieFest at PrairieFest Park, 91 Plank Drive in Oswego. Featuring live entertainment, parade, 5K and 1-mile race, carnival and more. Headliners include The Ron Burgundys, Deana Carter, Better Than Ezra and American English.
July 26: Yorkville River Fest at Riverfront Park, 131 E. Hydraulic Ave. Featuring live music, free family activities, cardboard boat race, craft beer tasting and more.
July 30 to Aug. 2: Kendall County Fair at the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Free admission. Offers live music, truck and tractor pulls, livestock competitions, food vendors, beer garden and more.
Aug. 14-16: Montgomery Fest at Montgomery Park, 301 N. River St. Featuring fireworks, carnival, beer tent, car show, carp fishing derby.
Sept. 3 to Sept. 6: Yorkville Hometown Days at Beecher Community Park, 901 Game Farm Road. Baby contest, Big Band & BBQ, car show, live music, Ultimate Air Dogs competition.
DeKalb County
Sept. 9-13: Sandwich Fair. Truck and tractor pulls, carnival rides, food vendors, livestock exhibits, live music and more.
DuPage County
July 23–26: DuPage County Fair at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton. Live music, vintage vendors, food, animal exhibits and more. Kids five and under are free; $12 per adult ages 13 and up, seniors and kids ages 6 to 12 are $8. Mega-passes are $35 per day.
Aug. 8–9: Veggie Fest on the grounds of Danada South Park, Navistar Circle in Lisle. Free admission and free parking. Over 100 vendor tents, 27 foot booths, food demos, live bands and more.
Sept. 4-7: Naperville Jaycees' Last Fling in and around downtown Naperville. Free-to-attend event. Features live music, Labor Day parade, carnival, food vendors and more.
Lake County
July 17-20: Highwood Days-North Shore Taco Fest takes place in the parking lot of the Highwood Metra station with a wide range of tacos and other foods from local restaurants, carnival, live music.
Aug. 29-30: Port Clinton Arts Festival in downtown Highland Park. 250 top juried artists, Kids Art Zone, face painting tent. Free entry.
