Instant Christmas at Eisenhower

Given just two days, Cards help Pro Labore Dei spread some cheer

Given just two days, staff members from Eisenhower High School donated $1,500, shopped, and wrapped gifts to help make Christmas a little brighter for children in Robbins, Posen, and Blue Island.

“With current times, many families in our DDE community may not be able to have a Christmas that is merry and bright. With your help, the charity organization, Pro Labore Dei, can bring some joy to many of these families in Robbins, Blue Island, and Posen,” teacher Gladys Marquez wrote to colleagues.

And her friends responded.

“We love our students and have a deep commitment to our community,” she said.

The school Community Engagement Team asked staff to donate toys or money to help Pro Labore Dei spread holiday cheer to children.

“Within two short days we were able to collect $1500 dollars in donations. Staff volunteers sprung into action purchasing and wrapping gifts for young and old. That is what we are about at Eisenhower. It is truly a magical place to work,” Marquez said.

The engagement team let staff know what they had done.

"Very proud to be part of the DDE Community! We accumulated gifts and monetary donations totaling $1,500 in just two days. Thank you to all who donated, shopped for the gifts, wrapped gifts, and provided support along the way,” they wrote.
