Local Vigil Planned To Honor 3 Scouts, Mom, Killed In Hit and Run
Oak Lawn Girls Scouts join nationwide vigil this Saturday (Nov 10) on the Village Green to honor Wis. scouts and parent killed in crash.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Oak Lawn Girl Scouts will join troops around the country to honor the three Girl Scouts and a parent who died last Saturday after being struck by a car in Chippewa Falls, WI. The vigil will take place from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, on the Oak Lawn Village Green, 94th Street and Cook Avenue. Residents are invited.
More than 600 Girl Scout troops around the country will be holding simultaneous community vigils and community service projects to support their sister troop in Chippewa Falls. A moment of silence will be observed for the three young Girl Scouts and a mother who were killed while cleaning up the roadway as part of the Adopt-A-Highway Program. The 21-year-old driver sped off but later surrendered himself to police. He has since been charged with four counts of vehicular homicide.
The girls from Girl Scout Service Unit 638 will also be collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, which will continue a vital component of the Girl Scout Lawn to “Make the World a Better Place.”
