Man In Wig Robs Oak Lawn Chase Bank: Police

The man was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the bank tellers, police say.

OAK LAWN, IL — A man wearing a short dark wig robbed a Chase bank Tuesday afternoon in Oak Lawn. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Just before 2:30 p.m., police said a man walked into the Chase Bank, 5705 W. 95th St., armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Witnesses told police the man demanded money from the tellers at gunpoint. He left the bank and was last seen on foot heading south on Major Avenue in the 9500 block with an undetermined amount of money.

The purported bandit was last spotted heading south in the 9500 block of Major Avenue. Oak Lawn officers were combing the neighborhood looking for him.

The suspect is described as a white male in his forties, with facial hair and wearing a short dark wig. He wore a khaki jacket, dark blue T-shirt, khaki pants and gray shoes.

Residents who live in the area of the bank are asked to check their home security cameras for suspicious vehicles or people. Anyone with information about this person or robbery, or has video, is asked to contact the Oak Lawn Police Detective Division at 708-907-4051 or text tips to 708-613-8477.
