Mosquito Spraying Set Tuesday For Oak Lawn and Hometown: UPDATED

UPDATED: The South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District will be out spraying for mosquitos Tuesday, Sept. 3 in Oak Lawn and Hometown.

OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN, IL — UPDATED — Hometown has been added to the South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District spraying schedule for Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to the presence of the West Nile virus in the area. The yellow abatement trucks will be out spraying in Oak Lawn and Hometown between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Residents can do their part by eliminating even the smallest sources of standing water, such as sprinkling cans, wading pools, bird baths, planters, etc. Even removing a small amount of water can have a huge effect in controlling the mosquito population.

If you have a pool or hot tub, keep it covered when not in use since it is often a source of mostquitos carrying West Nile Virus, according to the mosquito abatement guy we spoke to Tuesday morning.
