Muggers Jump Man, Step on his Head: Cops

Man waited to report incident to police because he was afraid his father would get mad him, cops say.

A 31-year-old man claims that he was jumped by at least two people when he was walking home in the early Sept. 27.

Oak Lawn police said the man reported the robbery several days after the incident. According to reports, the man was walking home from a friend’s around 2:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of West 53rd Avenue when he saw two men running toward him.

One of the men pushed him to the ground and stepped on his head. The man’s pants were pulled down around his ankles and he felt two pairs of hands patting him down.

Police said the suspects took $250 cash from the man, and threw away his house keys and phone. The men fled on foot through an alley on 99th Street.

The man was able to recover his phone and keys and went home. Police said the man waited to report the incident because he was afraid his father would be mad at him and he didn’t want to miss work the day of the incident.

The man showed police bruise marks on his ribs and back. He also had a cut on his right elbow. The injuries reportedly came from the robbery.

The suspects were described as African-American males in their late 20s with large builds and wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Police said the man doesn’t think he can assist in a composite sketch. He also thinks there may have been more participants but doesn’t know for sure.
