Oak Lawn Baseball Standout Barnhart Signs With Saint Xavier University

Oak Lawn switch-hitting senior shortstop and right-handed pitcher Alec Barnhart recently signed a national letter of intent to play in the collegiate ranks at Saint Xavier University.

Barnhart is a switch-hitting senior shortstop and right-handed pitcher for the Oak Lawn Community High School baseball team. He is a returning all-conference pick in the South Suburban Red.

And he hits the books, too.

Because of his all-around skill set, Barnhart attracted interest from college scouts. He recently signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Saint Xavier University. He will join the Cougars in the fall of 2012.

In the Spartans’ camp, word is the sky’s the limit for him.

The baseball program is proud of Alec and his accomplishments,” Oak Lawn assistant baseball coach Brian Brandt said in a news release. “He has not only dedicated himself to get better as a baseball player, he has matured into a responsible young adult in the classroom as well.

“We wish him nothing but the best at SXU.”
